DYNAMOS and Highlanders are set to clash on Sunday in the first leg of the Bob 92 ZIFA Super Cup at Barbourfields Stadium.
The second leg has been set for the National Sports Stadium in Harare on March 19.
The tournament, which is held every year, is designed to commemorate President Robert Mugabe’s birth day.  The veteran leader turned 92 last month.
Dynamos defeated Caps United 1-0 to the trophy last season.
The tournament’s organising committee spokesman, Charles Mabika, told reporters at a press conference earlier in the week that they had invited Dynamos and Highlanders because they were the biggest teams in the country.
The prizes for the participating teams have however, not been revealed.
Mabika said the prize money for the winners and runners up was not yet known as the sponsors of the tournament were still deliberating on the matter.
Last season, the participating teams did not get their prize money and Mabika said the problem was beyond their control.
He however, insisted that Dynamos and Highlanders had agreed to take part this year.
Highlanders were represented by vice chair Modern Ngwenya while Dynamos were represented by club treasurer Webster Marechera.
Ngwenya said there was a lot of enthusiasm at Highlanders after they engaged foreign coach, Erol Alkaby, to take charge of the team this campaign.
“Our boys are training hard. There is lots of excitement and anticipation. We hired a new coach from abroad and he has blended youth and experience.
“What I can promise is thunder on Sunday,” said Ngwenya.
Marechera also said they were prepared for Sunday’s game.
“We are prepared. We have been to Malawi where we played some friendly matches. The team did very well in Malawi. Big
“Bullets are a good team so we are looking forward to the match against Highlanders.”Advertisement
