INTERIM Harare City coach Masimba Dinyero is set to be appointed substantive coach at the weekend after he lifted the team from the murky waters of relegation since taking over from Bigboy Mawiwi who was sacked for poor performance.
Harare City secretary Mathew Marara said on Tuesday the club executive would meet at the weekend to discuss the future of the coach as well as to hold a strategic workshop for the team.
He however, said they were happy with the Dinyero’s performance.
“What I can say is that we are really excited with what the new coach has done so far,” said Marara.
“We are going to meet as an executive at the weekend for a strategic workshop for the club as well as to discuss the future of the coach.
“(Dinyero) will definitely continue as our coach but we are not sure whether he will continue in the same capacity as interim coach or substantive coach. This will be decided by the executive.”
Dinyero had been given a target of three games to prove himself before he could be confirmed as substantive coach.
He has taken charge of five league games and is undefeated in all, starting off on a winning note after defeating Chiredzi FC 2-1 before being held to a 2-2 draw by Shabanie Mine at Maglas.
Dinyero then lead his side to a 1-0 win over Chapungu, following that up with a 3-2 win over Bantu Rovers before clobbering How Mine 3-0 recently.
Those results lifted the Sunshine City Boys from third position from the bottom with only 15 points in 16 matches to ninth position on the league table with 28 points.
