A 25-year-old Chinhoyi man, who confessed his drug addiction, has been jailed 12 years for intoxicating and sodomising a boy from his neighbourhood.

Andrew Gondo of Mpata Section suburb in Chinhoyi would repeatedly sexually assault the minor after forcing him to smoke cigarettes, dagga and crystal meth.

Magistrate Ignatius Mugova slapped Gondo with 12 years imprisonment before conditionally suspending four years. He will, therefore, effectively serve eight years behind bars.

State case, led by Nyasha Sibesha, was that in 2023, the accused would invite complainant to his house where he ordered him to consume drugs before sodomising him.

Court heard that Gondo would silence the boy using money, corn snacks and sweets.

It was further averred in court, on February 12 this year, the assailant invited complainant to his house and made him smoke cigarettes, dagga and crystal meth.

He then went onto undress and sodomise him prompting him to scream for help but no one heard him.

Gondo calmed down the victim before luring him to a secluded spot where they continued to smoke illicit drugs together with accused person’s unnamed friends.

As the gang was engrossed in smoking, a passer-by spotted the juvenile puffing smoke and went to report him to his mother who rushed to the scene.

The matter was reported to police and it was discovered the boy had been indecently assaulted.
