TROUBLED Harare giants Dynamos staged a dramatic comeback from a goal behind to upstage hosts Bantu Rovers in a Castle Lager Premiership match which ended 3-1 at Barbourfields Stadium on Easter Monday.
The victory by the Zimbabwe champions ensued they avoided what would have been an embarrassing third loss on the trot.
Having lost 1-0 to ZPC Kariba and 3-0 on penalties in the Independence Trophy final to FC Platinum, the hawks were circling on coach Callisto Pasuwa’s job.
And Dynamos had a bad start at Barbourfields – a venue they rarely lose at – when Nqobizitha Masuku thrust Bantu Rovers into the lead with only 13 minutes into the match.
But a five-minute three goal blitz in the second half saved Pasuwa’s job.
Sydney Linyama headed in the equaliser in the 61st minute before Cliff Sekete gave them the lead two minutes later.
Devon Chafa added the third in the 66th minute to complete a spectacular comeback for the glamour boys.
Elsewhere, visiting Highlanders made light weight of hosts Chiredzi FC who they clobbered 3-0 to confirm a promising start to their 2014 campaign.
Ozias Zibande gave Bosso the lead in the 26th minute on the bumpy pitch before Kuda Mahachi’s solo effort stole the show in the 74th minute.
Charles Sibanda then rammed in the third in the 81st minute to leave Bosso in second position with seven points from three matches.
The match was played in the sugarcane growing town’s Chishamiso stadium.
Hwange lead the standings on better goal difference, having scored nine in three matches while Bosso has seven.
Cheeky newcomers ZPC’s giant killing mission saw them pouring more misery on troubled Harare City who they dismissed with a 1-0 win in a match played at Gwanzura stadium.
The win ensued they moved to third spot while it was the Sunshine boys’ third successive loss.
Artwell Nyamiwa, who scored the winner against Dynamos last week, returned to haunt last season’s third placed finishers with the winner at the death to leave City coach Bigboy Mawiwi in danger of losing his job.
Zvishavane side, FC Platinum squandered a two goal advantage once again to eventually draw 2-2 against Chicken Inn at Luveve.
Last week, the platinum miners led 2-0 against Hwange but lost 3-2.
On Easter Monday, Walter Musona gave them the lead in the 16th minute before Donald Ngoma added the second in the 74th minute.Advertisement
When it all seemed they were headed for victory, Tendai Mukambi gave Chicken Inn a glimmer of hope in the 86th minute when he pulled one back.
But five minutes of added time saw Mukambi complete his double with just 60 seconds to play and also possibly save his coach Joey Antipas’ job following last week’s 2-0 loss to Buffaloes.
