Dynamos, Caps in pre-season faceoff

BATTLE lines have been drawn for Sunday’s Harare derby between Dynamos and Caps United, who clash in the Sino-Zinm Cement Challenge Cup at Rufaro Stadium.
It will be the giants’ first competitive match of the year.
The two teams coaches are under the spotlight and would be scrutinized if they have built strong sides that could win the league title this year.
Caps United English Coach Mark Harrson goes into the match after having worked with his charges for just six days.
He arrived in the country late while waiting to be issued with a work permit.
“It has not been easy for the past few days. I have been involved in meeting after meeting with the club bosses and that has disrupted training a bit,” Harrison said.
“Players have been very good in training and they have responded well to my methods and philosophy.
“I have brought different methods and they are buying into it. It does not come overnight but hopefully soon they would have fully adapted. We are getting there.”
Caps United new striker Roderick Mutuma will be facing his former paymasters while Dynamos new signings Kelvin Bulaji and Dominic Chungwa would also be coming up against their ex employers.
Dynamos coach David Mandigora said they are taking this match seriously and want a positive result.
“We want to win,” he said.
“We are not taking this as a pre-season game because we always want to win. It is good to always record good results and that will help us in the new season.
“This should be a sign that this is the beginning of good things to come.”
The winner of the match pockets US$15 000 while runners-up take home US$10 000.Advertisement
