Dynamos dismiss Mutare City to claim fourth spot

DYNAMOS’ bid for a top four finish remained on course after they dismissed visiting Mutare City 2-0 in a Castle Lager Premiership at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
With ZPC Kariba suffering a 3-1 defeat to Bulawayo City at Barbourfields, Dynamos eased into the top four with 43 points-two ahead of ZPC Kariba. Only two matches are left before the campaign comes to an end. Mutare City are still in second position from the bottom with 25 points.
Dynamos went into the lead after just four minutes through Rodreck Mutuma following a set up by Peace Makaha.
The visitors, however, didn’t show any respect for their more illustrious opponents as they threatened with some fine raids. Stephen Sibanda came close, forcing Dynamos goalkeeper Ashley Reyners into a save after 19 minutes.
A minute later, Mutuma missed a headed opportunity which could have seen him doubling the lead.
However, Mutare City also had a good opportunity but Agrippa Murimba was guilty of a miss moments later with Dynamos goalkeeper Reyners thwarting his effort following a set up by Gurure.
In the second half, Dynamos remained dominant carving out good chances and Bret Amidu watched in disbelief his effort saved by the keeper on 56 minutes.
Sibanda also came close on 65 minutes only for his effort to be saved by the keeper.
On 69 minutes, the two coaches made some changes with Taku Shariwa – the Mutare City coach, throwing in Hibron Makukutu for Bright Majamanda while Dynamos coach, Lloyd Mutasa, threw in Mukandi for Mambare.
This paid off for Mutasa as Mukandi made it 2-0 with a low shot after pouncing on a rebound after Mutuma’s header was blocked by the keeper.
Mutasa said he was happy to collect maximum points.
