Dynamos edge Hardrock FC in resumed PSL match, claims 2-1 victory

Date:

Dynamos secured a 2-1 victory over Hardrock FC after the remaining 14 minutes of their abandoned Castle Lager Premier Soccer League fixture were played behind closed doors at Baobab Stadium on Thursday.

The match resumed from the 76th minute with the teams locked at 1-1 after the original fixture, played at Chahwanda Stadium in May, was abandoned following crowd trouble and a pitch invasion.

Moses Demera scored the decisive goal to hand Dynamos all three points and bring an end to weeks of controversy surrounding the fixture.

The Premier Soccer League had ordered the remaining minutes of the match to be completed behind closed doors, a decision that was upheld by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Appeals Committee after Hardrock FC unsuccessfully challenged the ruling.

Thursday’s result lifted Dynamos to third place on the league table with 37 points, nine behind log leaders Scottland.

For Hardrock FC, the defeat dealt a significant blow to their title aspirations. Despite remaining second on the table with 39 points, they missed the opportunity to close the gap on the league leaders.
