Dynamos eye Andrew Mbeba after Highlanders contract talks stall

Date:

Dynamos are closing in on the signing of Andrew Mbeba, who is currently a free agent after parting ways with Highlanders.

Mbeba spent the last three years with the Bulawayo giants, but is now searching for a new club following the expiration of his contract in December last year.

The player had been engaged in lengthy negotiations with Bosso over a contract extension, but the two parties reportedly failed to reach an agreement.

According to reports, Mbeba had requested that Highlanders purchase him a house in one of Bulawayo’s high-density suburbs as part of his new deal. However, the club was reportedly unwilling to meet that demand.

The versatile defender was the Highlanders’ only representative among the finalists for the 2025 Soccer Star of the Year award.

Dynamos coach Genesis Mangombe confirmed his club’s interest in the player, although he remained cautious about commenting on ongoing negotiations.

“I don’t want to comment much on that issue, but you know Andrew Mbeba is a very good player.

“If it happens that we agree on the terms, I think he is a good player we would want to have in our squad,” said Mangombe.

Sources have indicated that Mbeba’s chances of joining the Glamour Boys are high, with only a few details left to be finalised.

If negotiations are successfully concluded, the utility player could complete the move to Dynamos before Sunday.

Mbeba is currently training individually as he awaits his next move.

He is one of the few locally based players to have been called up by Warriors coach Mario Marinica ahead of the Four Nations tournament scheduled to take place in Botswana from March 23 to March 31.
