CHAMPIONS Dynamos have been handed a tough draw after they were drawn against Botswana’s Mochudi Centre Chiefs in the preliminary round of the Caf Champions League on Monday.
According to the draw conducted in Marrakech, Morocco on Monday, Dynamos will take on Mochudi Centre Chiefs at home during the weekend of 7 – 9 February before making the trip to Botswana for the second league two weeks later.
Should the Zimbabwe champions overcome Mochudi Centre Chiefs in the preliminary round they will then meet the winner between Kano Pillars of Nigeria and DRC’s AS Vita.
There is also a chance the Glamour Boys could meet South African giants Kaizer Chiefs provided the South African outfit win their preliminary round and the first round proper.
Chiefs are paired against Black Africa of Namibia in the preliminary round and then play the winner between Liga Mculmana of Mozambique and CAN PS of Madagascar in the first round.
Dynamos will find a familiar face on the pitch when they host Mochudi Center Chiefs who are home to Zimbabwean Elvis Meleka formerly with Gunners.
Meleka was last season named the most outstanding player in the league after they successfully defended the Botswana Be Mobile league title.
The Botswana side were also under the guidance of Madinda Ndlovu and Rahman Gumbo with each of them walking to the winners’ podium when they were at the helm.
Meanwhile, giant killers How Mine have what looks like an easy tie as they host Chuoni FC of Zanzibar in the preliminary round first leg of the Orange Caf Confederation Cup in February before travelling to the island nation for the second leg.
The gold miners won the ticket to represent the country in that tournament as the losing finalists of the Mbada Diamonds Cup.
Cup winners Highlanders were barred from participating Highlanders are still serving a Caf ban.
Should How Mine get past Chuoni FC, they will face the winner between St. Michel of Seychelles and ASSM Elgeco Plus of Madagascar in the next round.Advertisement
