Dynamos 1-1 Chicken Inn
BRIAN Mbiriri scored a second half volley to earn his side Chicken Inn a crucial point in a 1-1 draw against champions Dynamos in a Castle Lager Premiership at Gwanzura Stadium on Wednesday.
Dynamos scored first in the second half through a penalty by Rodreck Mutuma after Lawrence Mhlanga had handled the ball in the penalty area in a bid to clear a shot
by DRC international striker Fabrice Mbimba.
However, Mbiriri beat Dynamos goalkeeper Artwell Mukandi with a stunning volley which could be a strong contender for the goal of the season.
Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas said. “He (Mbiriri) is a free kick specialist and I was really not surprised when he scored.
“It was a classic goal. I thought it was a balanced tie but we deserved at least a point. But we still have a lot to do especially in attack which we need to sharpen.
“We are rebuilding a team after losing some of the players like Tendai Ndoro and Kuda Mahachi and we hope to improve in our next game against Hwange,” said Antipas.
Dynamos coach Kalisto Pasuwa said: “We were second to the ball and missed a number of chances especially in the first half.
“We didn’t play well possibly because of the changes we made due to injuries of some of our players. Now we have to rectify the mistakes and go to face Highlanders in our next match with a compact team.”
Chicken Inn dropped to 11th position on the league table with 21 points while Dynamos remained in third place with 32 points behind log leaders Highlanders despite the Bulawayo giants falling 1-0 to army side Black Rhinos.
Wednesday: Results: Black Rhinos 1-0 Highlanders, How Mine 0-2 Triangle, Chapungu 2-1 Buffaloes, Shabanie Mine 2-2 Harare City, Bantu Rovers 1-1 FC Platinum, Dynamos 1-1 Chicken Inn, Chiredzi 1-1 ZPC Kariba
Thursday: Hwange v Caps United (Colliery Stadium).
