DYNAMOS coach Paulo Jorge Silva has fired goalkeepers’ coach Gift Muzadzi whom he accused of sabotaging him amid a poor start to the season.
Dynamos failed to win and score in their two opening league games in which they lost 3-0 to Chicken Inn before a goalless draw with Triangle at home.
Silva had been enduring an acrimonious relationship with Muzadzi since pre-season and their feud has spilled into the new season.
The duo almost came to blows last week during a warm-up match with Division One side Yadah Gunners.
But the final straw came after the Triangle draw as Dynamos fans demanded the ouster of Muzadzi while throwing their weight behind Silva.
The Portuguese coach had been accusing Muzadzi of influencing certain players to underperform, which would result in the sacking of Silva. The situation drew into action the Dynamos chiefs who allowed Silva to make a choice on his backroom understudy.
Dynamos president Kenny Mubaiwa said they placed the ball in Silva’s court to make his mind on Muzadzi.
“These two (Silva and Muzadzi) had always been fighting since Silva arrived and that has been affecting the team a lot. We could not stand and watch things get out of hand just like that,” Mubaiwa said.
“That is why we asked Silva to make a choice and he had to do what he had to do. What we understood was that he was supposed to come with his assistants in the first place but we could not afford that. We now just want to work with whoever he feels comfortable with. We hope there will be no excuses from him this time around.”
Team manager Richard Chihoro’s future at the club is not safe either as he was perceived by Silva to be on Muzadzi’s side
