THE England-based based pair of midfielder Macauley Bonne and defender Tendai Darikwa have been ruled out of Zimbabwe’s clash against Guinea in Harare on Sunday after their clubs reportedly declined to release them.
Bonne plays his club football for Colchester United in England while Darikwa turns out for Burnley.
“Both Darikwa and Bonne are no longer coming for the match against Guinea. Their clubs have refused to release them,” said Zifa spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela.
“Quincy Antipas is also not coming as he is injured. We are also still get confirmation from Mathew Rusike’s club in Sweden but all the other players will be available for the match.”
Gwesela said most of the players were expected to join camp on Sunday night with preparations for the match expected to start on Tuesday morning.
The Warriors had a bright start in the Group L 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign after beating Malawi 2-1 in Blantyre while Guinea were stunned by Swaziland.
Zimbabwe are joint leaders in Group L with Swaziland on three points and need to win at home to enhance their chances of qualification for the finals.
