ZIMBABWE’S prime resort town of Victoria Falls is this week experiencing extended power cuts, exceeding 8 hours a day, as ZESA embarks on major maintenance work in the town.
The rolling power cuts are expected to affect business in the resort capital.
In a notice on Wednesday, ZESA unit the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZEDTC) said power supplies would be interrupted from Tuesday and Thursday for more than 8 hours a day.
“In order to carry out essential maintenance work in Victoria Falls, clients in the areas mentioned are advised that their electricity supplies will be interrupted on Tuesday and Thursday…,” reads part of the notice.
The affected areas include the Victoria Falls CBD, all hotels and lodges, Victoria Falls Hospital, all residential and industrial areas, Victoria Falls Airport, Zimbabwe/Zambia border post and the Rain Forest, one of the town’s major attractions.
Other areas include all Econet, NetOne, TelOne and Telecel sites, Chisuma area, Ndlovu, Jambezi, Mbizha, Matetsi National Parks areas, all NRZ sidings, Fuller Forest, Lipinya and Sidobe areas.Advertisement
