A father from Dzavara village in Domboshava recently went berserk and poisoned his three children with termite poison following a confrontation he had with his brother and father.

Enock Marimo (38) was hauled before Harare magistrate Milton Serima to answer to three counts of attempted murder.

He was ordered to apply for bail at the High Court as he was facing a serious offence.

His three children are currently battling for their lives at Makumbe Mission hospital where they were rushed after taking the poison.

Prosecuting, Sebastian Mutizirwa alleged that on July 11 this year, Marimo had a dispute over an undisclosed subject with his brother Claudius and his father Nhau Marimo.

Court heard the following day, Marimo took his three children, whose ages were not provided, to the local shops.

Upon arrival, it is alleged that he bought some coca-cola drinks which he mixed with termite poison.

Marimo went on to drink the concoction before giving the remainder to his children to also drink.

The children got sick immediately and were rushed to the hospital by some good Samaritans who witnessed the shock incident.

The State says the children’s condition is serious.
