FC Platinum hope for favour from Dynamos

WITH just five points separating the top two teams Chicken Inn and FC Platinum, the Zvishavane side will be hoping the leaders slip up when they host the defending champions in a Castle Lager Premiership match on Sunday at Barbourfields Stadium.
Platinum are second on the league table with 44 while Chicken Inn are on 49. That can change by Saturday night if Platinum beat relegation threatened Tsholotsho at White City Stadium in Bulawayo as a win will cut the deficit to two points.
Then, 24 hours later, Platinum will watch the Chicken Inn-Dynamos clash across town at Barbourfields with keen interest knowing that if the Harare side wins, then the deficit will remain at two.
Dynamos are third on 42, seven behind the team which thumped them 3-0 in the first round in Harare and seemingly determined to complete a double over the defending champions.
Not, however, that Platinum will be supporting their eternal enemies, who snatched the title from them in 2011 in their debut season via goal difference, but they will be focusing on their own goals.
“No, no, we are looking at our own game and nothing else,” says Platinum boss Norman Mapeza.
“It’s about our team results and not how other teams are playing.
“But at the same time, results from other matches have an effect, but for us, we look and play to our own strengths and see what happens at the end of the season.”
Tsholotsho have a new man on the technical bench: former Highlanders coach Bongani Mafu who has been appointed assistant to Lizwe Sweswe.
Mafu joined after the demotion of Sthethelelwe ‘Kwinji 15’ Sibanda, to the development side.
From the remaining seven matches, Tsholotsho need at least three wins to guarantee another dance in the top flight.
They have 21 points from 23 matches and sit in 13th position, just three points behind struggling ZPC Kariba.
