FOLLOWING last Sunday’s Chibuku Super Cup quarter-final exit at the hands of Dynamos, FC Platinum coach, Norman Mapeza, says he is not bitter about the failure to defend the prestigious Cup.
The platinum miners held Dynamos 0-0 in regulation time but succumbed 7-6 to penalty shootouts.
This ended their campaign in the Cup they won last season to give them the ticket to take part in this year’s Caf Confederations Cup.
But Mapeza bowed out in honour, refusing to point fingers at his players for the exit.
Sunday’s match was FC Platinum third game inside eight days with the other two being two taxing league fixtures against Dynamos again and a visit to How Mine.
“I am proud of my boys,” said Mapeza.
“They worked very hard considering we played three massive and difficult games inside eight days so I am happy with their character.”
“I cannot blame the players for losing on penalties because they gave it their all. We played very well building from the back and getting into midfield.
“But we lacked creativity and, as a result, no goal came out way. We are now shifting our concentration on the league campaign.
“We will take each game as it comes. God knows our destiny.”
With seven games to go before the league race ends, FC Platinum are five points behind Chicken Inn and are fancying their title chances.
