FC PLATINUM coach Norman Mapeza is refusing in regard to his side as PSL title favourites despite an impressive start to the season.
The platinum miners are enjoying an unbeaten start to the season in which they have won five games and dropped just two points in the draw against Harare City.
This season’s run has extended their overall league unbeaten run to 27 matches as they last tasted defeat in May 2015.
FC Platinum’s latest conquer was last Sunday’s 1-0 win over Dynamos away at Rufaro Stadium to open a three-point gap at the top of the log.
They are now being touted as serious candidates to bag the league title but Mapeza says it is too early to start talking about winning the championship.
“To be honest with you, I am not thinking much about it (winning the league title). I am not even looking at the log table at the moment,” Mapeza said.
“It is still too early to start talking about the championship. Right now we are just taking each game as it comes and trying to collect as much points as we can. That is the most important thing at the moment. We just need to concentrate on our upcoming games and stay focused.”
The Dynamos win means FC Platinum have claimed scalps of PSL traditional giants after also beating Highlanders 2-1 away in their second match of the season.
The platinum miners are bidding for a maiden league title and their best finish is second position attained in 2011 in their debut top-flight league season.
