BARELY two months after lifting the BancABC Sup8r Cup, Luke Masomere has announced that he will leave Shabanie Mine at the end of the season.
After seeing his side coming from behind to scrap a 1-1 home draw with struggling Monomotapa on Sunday, Masomere said outside factors are contributing to his side’s poor league run.
Shabanie are safe from relegation in 10th position but the Monomotapa draw threatened Masomere’s top eight target.
Irked by the draw, team manager Sam Gondwe called for Masomere’s resignation.
“There are a lot of things happening here at Shabanie and many people do not know anything,” Masomere said.
“We are failing to win due to other factors and at the end of the day it appears as if I am not doing my job well.
“It is best that I quit at the end of the season and I appeal to the fans to support the team during this period. I cannot continue like this.”
Masomere took time to accept a contract extension this season and at one stage was linked to Buffaloes.
He is on record for criticising the club executive for failing to motivate the players financially and also for failing to support him.
