FILING of nomination papers for Zifa board elections on March 29 closes on Friday with only incumbent president Cuthbert Dube having come out in the open with his intention to contest.
A number of names have been thrown around to be interested in the hot seat but are playing their cards close to their chests.
Veteran broadcaster Charles Mabika, former Caps United player Charlie Jones and Lesley Gwindi have before expressed interest to contest for the president post but have been quiet of late.
Omega Sibanda, Patrick Hokonya and Gift Banda are understood to be gunning for the vice-president post.
Zifa spokesperson said they will conceal the names of those gunning for board posts until they are vetted next week by the nomination court.
“The public will only know of the contestants after vetting on 22 March. For now we will not make public the names of the contestants,” Gwesela said.
Some of the requirements needed for candidates include a clean criminal record.
A US$5,000 nomination fee is also required upon filing of papers.Advertisement
