GWERU: A popular disc jockey, DJ Mupsy was on Monday fined $600 for having sex with a 14-year old school girl from Regina Mundi.
Tawanda Mupanemunda, 26, popularly known as DJ Mupsy of Mupsyville Entertainment, a Gweru based recording company, lured two girls to his apartment after performing at Regina Mundi High School.
He then had consensual sex with one of the juveniles.
Gweru regional magistrate, Morgan Nemadire fined Mupanemunda $600 or six months in jail if he fails to pay.
A further three years of the sentence were wholly suspended on condition of good behaviour.
Nemadire said a non-custodial sentence would help the DJ reform since he was a first offender.
He however, indicated that a heavy fine was necessary considering the seriousness of the offence.
Prosecutors had told the court that sometime in April this year, Mupanemunda was hired to perform at Regina Mundi High school, just outside Gweru.

He later went on to lure two girls to his apartment where he had sex with one of them.
The girl later told her mother what had happened and a report was made at the police leading to Mupanemunda’s arrest.Advertisement
