Gwindi judgement set for Wednesday

THE verdict on the disciplinary case of Harare City chairman Lesley Gwindi is expected to be passed on Wednesday.
Gwindi was last year charged by Zifa for bringing the game of football into disrepute and judgment has been postponed twice before.
Allegations on Gwindi are that he verbally attacked Zifa and the Premier Soccer League while addressing the Bulawayo Press Club last March.
But the charge has been viewed by many in some football quarters as a plot to shut out Gwindi who has declared his candidature for the Zifa president post in March’s elections.
If found guilty, Gwindi would be ineligible to contest.
Gwindi has remained tight-lipped on his charges.
“I have said a lot about our football so for now let me keep quiet,” Gwindi said.
Charges on Gwindi emanate when he tore onto Zifa, alleging the association’s president of being corrupt.
He also took a swipe at former Warriors coach Klaus-Dieter Pagels whom he labelled a mere tourist than a football coach.
Gwindi went on to rap Delta Beverages for a “paltry” sponsorship of the Premier Soccer League through their Castle Lager brand.
Zifa recently fired its technical director Nelson Matongorere for masquerading as Warriors captain in the Ballon D’Or vote.Advertisement
