HARARE City football club chairman Leslie Gwindi faces another ban from football after he was summoned to appear before a Zifa Disciplinary Committee on Thursday next week.
The development follows allegations that he made a scathing attack on Zifa over the appointment of the then Warriors coach Klaus Dieter Pagels.
The former Dynamos and PSL secretary general is also reported to have infuriated the Premier Soccer League management after also allegedly attacking Delta Beverages who sponsor the league through their Castle Lager brand.
Gwindi is said to have fired a broadside at Zifa at the Bulawayo press club in March accusing them of appointing former Warriors coach Klaus Dieter Pagels whom he said was the wrong choice as he knew nothing about Zimbabwean football.
He is also reported to have said Delta Beverages were offering peanuts at the end of the league campaign.
“Gwindi was served with summons on Tuesday,” a source in Zifa said on Wednesday.
“Zifa has set 17 October as the Disciplinary hearing date. The newly appointed Zifa Disciplinary Committee is set to hear the matter on Thursday next week.”
The outspoken Gwindi has in the past been banned twice from football by both the Leo Mugabe and Rafik Khan administrations in 1999 and 2005 respectively.Advertisement
