Harare man kills friend, sucks his blood before burying body in shallow grave

Date:

THE Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested a 28-year-old Harare man accused of murdering his friend before allegedly sucking his blood in a gruesome incident that occurred in Warren Park D.

In a statement issued Thursday, police confirmed the arrest of Shepherd Severa in connection with the murder of Brian Nandana.

“ZRP confirms the arrest of Shepherd Severa (28) in connection with a case of murder which occurred in Warren Park D, Harare in which Brian Nandana was killed,” police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said.

The grisly crime was exposed after police officers recovered a blood-stained Toyota Aqua, registration number AGO 2804, at Warren Hills Cemetery in Harare on May 19 at around 4am.

According to police, investigations conducted after the vehicle’s recovery led detectives to the suspect.

“Subsequent police investigations led to the arrest of the suspect who allegedly confessed to killing his friend, Brian Nandana by cutting his throat with a kitchen knife before sucking his blood,” Nyathi said.

It is said Severa later led investigators to a shallow grave at the said cemetery where the victim’s body was recovered. The body was retrieved with a deep cut on the neck and a scar on the back of the head.

Nyathi said investigations into the full circumstances surrounding the murder are continuing.
