AB Communications radio stations, Hevoi FM and 98.4 FM, will, from this Thursday, start broadcasting live after playing pre-recorded music and news casts for the past few months.
In a statement, AB Communications Chief Operations Officer, Gilbert Muponda, said this followed completion of work at the two studios in Masvingo and Kwekwe respectively, adding the two stations will start live 24 hour broadcasts from 6.00 am on June 1.
“We have been testing our signal for the past few months and with the arrival of our state of the art equipment which has now been installed, it’s now all systems go from Thursday the 1st of June,” an excited Muponda said.
Mponda said the new equipment was imported from Europe, adding that the opening of the two new radio stations was a new chapter for the growing multimedia company.
AB Communications are also the owners of ZiFM stereo, which has already established itself as one of the most popular radio stations in the country.
According to Mponda, the delays were a result of the current cash shortages in the country.
“Because of the current liquidity challenges in our economy we faced delays in accessing money to pay suppliers in Europe and other parts of the world, but we are happy that all is now in place.”
The multi-media company said it had already recruited and trained on-air presenters who were now ready to roll.
“I want to assure our valued listeners, advertisers and all stakeholders that Hevoi FM and 98.4 FM will deliver the highest quality of broadcasting,” Muponda said.
“Remember the flagship station ZiFM Stereo has been consistently and constantly rated as the most credible and reliable sources of news and information for Zimbabweans both at home and in the Diaspora,” he added.
Mponda said their intention was to have the quality products that ZiFM stereo has been churning out since 2012 cascade down to Hevoi FM and 98.4 FM.
AB Communications also owns Mighty Movies, TruckAds, Oskid Productions and Six Finger Records.
