HIGHLANDERS are through to the Chibuku Super Cup semi-finals after they beat How Mine 4-3 on penalties in a Bulawayo derby on Sunday.
The two teams were deadlocked 1-1 after 90 minutes leading to a penalty shootout.
Simon Munawa gave Bosso the lead in the 13th minute while How Mine replied through substitute Godfrey Nguwodzano in the 36th minute.
Bosso could have sealed the game within 90 minutes but wasted a lot chances forcing the game to go into penalties. Strong winds also affected the game as players struggled to string proper passes.
Munawa, Ralph Matema, Peter Muhuhwa and Price Dube were all on target for Bosso. How Mine had one of their spot kicks saved by Bosso keeper, Ariel Sibanda, while Kudakwashe Musharu’s drive struck the upright post.
How mine coach, Kelvin Kaindu, blamed the wind and inconsistency on the part of his players for the defeat. Bosso coach Erol Akbay said he thought his boys unnecessarily allowed their opponents to come back into the game, adding his wish was to win the match in regular time.
