HIGHLANDERS coach Erol Akbay believes their match against FC Platinum could prove to be the league title decider when they meet in the penultimate game of the season.
Highlanders are at position three on the log, with three points behind leaders Caps United and with four games remaining, the title contest is now an intriguing three-horse race that also includes second-placed FC Platinum.
The bid for glory has become difficult to predict, as Caps United also have their own worries of meeting traditional foes Dynamos, this Sunday, leaving many guessing who will land the title.
But Akbay feels if United drop points along the way, their clash with FC Platinum could be the decider.
“Our match against FC Platinum is a tricky one because both of us are in this race. It has also made us look at how Caps United would be playing,” Akbaysaid.
“It is interesting while complicated at the same time. When we meet FC Platinum we both need to avoid dropping points. You see how complicated it is now? Caps will also not want to drop points.”
Making the Highlanders-FC Platinum tricky is that the Bulawayo giants will be away at the platinum miners who beat them 2-1 in the return leg at Barbourfields Stadium.
This weekend, Highlanders clash with Bulawayo City on Sunday in a derby match and will be without Benson Phiri who is suspended.
