Highlanders coach laments strikers form

HIGHLANDERS coach Bongani Mafu says he still has some work to do with strikers following last Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Caps United in the Bob91 elimination match.
It was the Bulawayo giants’ first competitive match of the year and Mafu was on the receiving end in his new job.
In the loss to Caps United, Highlanders got their goal through substitute Obadiah Tarumbwa.
While new teenage forward Thomas Chideu flashed some brilliant moves, it yielded no goals for Highlanders as striking partner Gabriel Nyoni also failed to find target.
“I have some good strikers at my disposal but I think we have to work on our finishing,” said Mafu.
“We really need to improve on that aspect because goals win matches. Some of the guys appeared to have no guts to fire at goal.”
The coach was however, impressed with his side’s performance despite losing.
“The guys played well in general. We dominated play but unfortunately we could not turn that into goals.
“That is what we need to work on because as I said it is goals that win matches,” he said.
