HIGHLANDERS right back Webster Chingodza has promised to deliver more after his solitary goal on Good Friday helped the Bulawayo giants edge Hwange at Barbourfields Stadium.
Chingodza’s powerful header three minutes before halftime earned Highlanders three points.
The victory eased pressure on coach, Bongani Mafu, whose charges started the campaign with a 2-0 loss to ZPC Kariba.
Chingodza joined Highlanders midway last season but did not enjoy game time due to injuries.
“I am happy I am playing regularly this season and to score an important goal that gives us three points feels good. My goal is to continue doing well and help the team in a big way so that we win some trophies,” Chingodza said.
“I am happy my teammates have always been supportive to me and they have helped me settle down. They have always been encouraging me. Together we work hard and this is important for us if we are to do great things.
“We know that Highlanders is a big institution and we have to make our fans happy by winning.”
The wingback appears to have been the solution to the Highlanders problematic right back position which had over the seasons been regarded as a weak link.
