BULAWAYO giants Highlanders were drawn to face Harare City thus avoiding FC Platinum who will face Black Rhinos in the semi-final of the Chibuku Super Cup.
According to the draw conducted at Ascot Stadium in Gweru on Monday, FC Platinum will be at home in the first semi-final as they were picked first while Highlanders will also be at home against Harare City in the second semi- final.
Highlanders advanced to the semi -finals of the tournament after thumping How Mine 3-1 at Hartsfield Stadium on Sunday.
Felix Chindungwe scored the floodgates with a headed goal in the first half before Dumisani Ndlovu headed the second in the second half off a corner kick from Charles Sibanda to help them recover from a heavy defeat to rivals Dynamos in the TM Pick n Pay Challenge Cup.
Sibanda then sealed victory for the Bulawayo giants when he converted a penalty but the gold miners managed to get a consolation from a headed goal by veteran striker Kuda Musharu late on.
FC Platinum advanced to the last four of the tournament after booting out troubled Harare giants Caps United when they handed them a 1-0 defeat having mauled them 6-0 in the final of the Zimbabwe National Army Charity Shield at Mandava Stadium two weeks back, their heaviest defeat in recent years.
Caps United defender George Nyirenda was the fall guy after beating his own goalkeeper Tafadzwa Dube to hand Norman Mapeza’s men victory and a passage to the semi -finals.
Harare City progressed to the last four of the tournament courtesy of a 2-1 victory over a battling Chiredzi FC with Osborne Mukuradare and Martin Vengesayi weighing in with a goal each.
Chiredzi had raced into the lead through Sam Msimbu who headed home on 29 minutes off a free kick from David Sengu.
