Highlanders fans in Byo city protest

HIGHLANDERS supporters demonstrated in Bulawayo Saturday against what they view as unfair treatment of their team by football authorities.
The placard-wielding supporters who were singing and dancing started the protest at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo statue in the city before proceeding to the club house along Five Street where they were addressed by the club officials.
Escorted by the police, the fans started singing at the late vice president’s statue, pleading with the departed national hero to spiritually assist the embattled football club from “unfair football treatment” by unnamed football authorities.
This comes after a premier soccer league match pitting Highlanders against Dynamos was abandoned last week in the 40th minute following a disputed goal.
Highlanders fans started throwing missiles onto the pitch after assistant referee Thomas Kusosa ruled as legitimate a goal scored by Dynamos striker Christian Epopa who appeared to be in an offside position.
