BULAWAYO giants Highlanders have captured highly rated Guinea forward Obiang on a year-long deal as the club continue to bolster its attack ahead of the start of the 2017 Castle Lager Premiership campaign.
The powerful Guinea striker was brought into the country by his manager George Deda who believes the player will illuminate the domestic league.
Obiang signed the contract at the weekend after impressing Dutch coach Erol Akbay during his two-week trial stint with the club.
The striker is a full Equatorial Guinea full international.
Contacted about the player Deda said; “Obiang will be an instant success in Zimbabwe and Bosso is the perfect platform. He has both pace and skill as well as an eye for goal.
“He brings that physical aspect to our game which has been lacking in Zimbabwe. I believe he will be a success.”
The Bulawayo giants are also expected to sign another unnamed striker from the DRC sometime this week.
Bosso have also signed former Dynamos striker Rodreck Mutuma ahead of the start of the new campaign.
Mutuma was deemed excess to requirements at Dynamos and was one of several senior players transfer-listed by the Glamour Boys.
Other players transfer-listed by the club are Sidney Linyama, Jacomb Muzokomba and Stephen Alimenda.
However, Highlanders who finished third behind eventual winners Caps United and runners up FC Platinum, have seen value in Mutuma whom they believe can make an impact at the club in his first season.Advertisement
