VETERAN Perfect Chikwende scored an 86th minute equaliser as FC Platinum came from behind to salvage 1-1 draw against log leaders Caps United in an entertaining Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Caps United appeared to have done enough to secure all three points in this high-profile encounter as they led with only four minutes left through William Manondo first half goal.

FC Platinum would however grab a late equaliser through Chikwende to ensure the top of the table clash ended in a share of the spoils.

The result ensured Caps United, who are yet to lose this season maintained their position at the top of the log on 11 points from five matches, just one point ahead of second placed FC Platinum.

The match got off to an exciting start as both sides created very good scoring  opportunities.

Caps Utd winger Phineas Bamusi made one of his trademark mazy runs before sending in a cross which was headed just wide by Rodwell Chinyengetere.

FC Platinum also had an opportunity just after the half hour mark when Juan Mutudza’s header was brilliantly parried onto the woodwork by goalkeeper Tonderayi Mateyaunga.

However it was Caps United, who eventually open the scoring in the 41st minute when Godknows Murwira delivered a perfect corner which was headed home by Manondo much to the delight of Caps United fans.

CAPS United held onto their lead until halftime and could have doubled their lead soon after the restart but Manondo was unable to find the target in the 46th minute.

FC Platinum would however grab an equaliser late on when last season’s Soccer Star of the Year Walter Musona beat the off-side trap before setting up Chikwende in the 86th minute to salvage a point for coach Norman Mapeza and his charges.

Meanwhile Bulawayo Chiefs scored an injury time equaliser to force a 2-2 draw against Chicken Inn at Luveve stadium while Triangle secured a 2-1 win against Black Rhinos at Gibbo Stadium.
