ORGANISERS of the aborted South African dancer and socialite Zodwa Wabantu show have bemoaned “huge” losses they have incurred as a result of her sudden decision to pull out.
Zodwa was scheduled to perform at one of Harare’s modern night outings, Private Lounge this Friday.
Joe Metro, the Private Lounge’s senior and resident DJ, who is also one of the show organizers, told New Zimbabwe on Friday that they had incurred huge losses as a result Zodwa’s decision to pull out.
“We had advertised the show and I think you do appreciate how expensive advertising  such a high profile show costs, in terms of advertising material and other logistics,” he said without stating figures.
“Not only that, we are talking of airfares, and clearance fees here,” he said.
DJ Metro said Zodwa cancelled the show without giving reasons.
“We do not think that she wants to ever come here and we are still waiting for a clear and convincing reason,” he said.
In September, Zodwa cancelled a Harare show after it had been politicized.
Zodwa made headlines in September after she had announced her intention to come to Zimbabwe.
This was caused by actress Anne Nhira who had written a letter to the then acting Tourism Minister Patrick Zhuwao complaining about Zodwa’s planned show.
Nhira, in her letter, said Zodwa should not be allowed into the country because of her dressing which according to her was going to “contaminate” Zimbabweans.
Zodwa is known to perform without undies.
