LIVERPOOL and England legend John Barnes is excited about his visit to Zimbabwe after only learning about the country through another Reds legend Bruce Grobbelaar.
Barnes is in Zimbabwe for a short visit courtesy of Liverpool official sponsors Standard Chartered Bank.
The Jamaica-born former striker arrived in Zimbabwe on Thursday.
He said he only heard about Zimbabwe from European Cup winner Bruce Grobbelaar.
“I have been to South Africa numerous times but now I am in Zimbabwe. I am so delighted to be here.
“Bruce Grobbelaar always told me that Zimbabwe is a nice country and I am happy to be here. There are warm people here and I hope to return in the future,” Barnes said.
Barnes said he also knew about other Zimbabwean legends Benjani Mwaruwari and Peter Ndlovu who once scored a hat-trick at Anfield during his days at Coventry City.Advertisement
