TEACHERS took to the streets in Harare last week demanding that their salaries be paid in United States dollars due to the continued plunge in value of the Bond Note and RTGS currencies.
Organised by the Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ), the tutors also said they want their salaries increased to US$3,000 per month, increasing pressure on the government at a time treasury is working to reduce State expenditure.
PTUZ also petitioned the Premier Services Medical Aid Society, accusing the State-owned health insurer of neglecting them and providing poor services.
