Injured defender worries Pasuwa ahead of Comoros game

WARRIORS coach Kalisto Pasuwa says he is worried over the injury to Chicken Inn defender Divine Lunga – the only natural left back in the team.
The senior national side is preparing for the return leg of the preliminary round, of the African Nations Championship qualifier away to the Comoros next weekend.
Lunga was handed his first cap for the national team on Sunday as a direct replacement for Denmark bound Ronald Pfumbidzai.
Pfumbidzai signed a one-year deal with Hobro Ik, making him ineligible to play in the Chan tournament which is designed exclusively for home based players.
This forced Pasuwa to scout for another full back and he settled for Lunga who had a decent game on his debut but failed to last the entire match after he was stretchered off in the 61st minute having twisted ligaments on his knee.
Hwange forward Pritchard Mpelele had to be deployed into the leftback position as a make shift defender.
Lunga will be out for a couple of weeks meaning he will not be part of the squad that will make the trip to Comoros. Lunga had to be flown to Bulawayo on Monday after the match while other players embarked on a road trip.
The Warriors play the Comoros on July 4 needing just a draw to advance to the second round of the tournament. Pasuwa’s men can even afford to lose 1-0 and still progress to the second round.
Zimbabwe have qualified for the last three editions of the tournament since its inauguration in 2009 and reached the semi-finals in South Africa in 2014 under Ian Gorowa.Advertisement
