ZIMBABWE’S Caf Confederation Cup representatives Ngezi Platinum Stars have been dealt a blow ahead of next week’s first round first leg encounter against Angolan side Recreativo do Libolo at the Estádio Municipal de Calulo.
The players with injuries are striker, Kelvin Bulaji and defender Byron Madzokere, who have both been ruled out of the match.
Bulaji was substituted in the first half of Ngezi’s preliminary round, second leg encounter, against Pamplemousse of Mauritius, due to an ankle strain, while Madzokere has been struggling with a groin injury.
Ngezi coach Tonderai Ndiraya said, that the duo had effectively been ruled out of the upcoming clash on March 11 but, were expected to make a return ahead of the second leg in Harare a week later.
“It’s true the two players have been ruled out of the first leg away in Angola but, we expect them to be fit when we play the second leg at home. We want to continue winning and we have to have a full squad all the time. Its unfortunate that the other players are injured at this stage.
“Both players have been struggling with injuries since we played against Pamplemousse from Mauritius. The team doctors are working with them and they will be fine in two weeks’ time,” Ndiraya said.Advertisement
