DYNAMOS will get a chance to oil their rusty scoring machine this Sunday when they take on defending champions Caps United in a ZNA Charity Shield semi-final at the National Sports Stadium Sunday in the first Harare Derby.
The other semi-final will feature Highlanders and FC Platinum at Barbourfields Stadium on the same day.
So terrible has Dynamos strikers been in the last three Castle Lager Premier Soccer League that they have failed to score even a single goal.
First they lost 1-0 to Chapungu at Ascot Stadium in Gweru before they fell 1-0 at home to Buffaloes. Last weekend, they were held to a 0-0 draw by Shabanie Mine at Maglas.
Washington Pakamisa, Simba Sithole, Anesu Gondo, Tafadzwa Rusike and Farai Mupasiri have scored six goals in seven matches. Gondo has scored twice while Linyama, Devon Chafa, Walter Mukanga and Cliff Sekete have scored the other goals.
Dynamos will be without goalkeeper George Chigova, defender Patson Jaure and Stephen Alimenda who are travelling with the Warriors to Tanzania for a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier while defender Sydney Linyama is injured.
Coach Callisto Pasuwa is also out as he is an assistant coach with the Warriors and this will leave his second in charge Philemon Mutyakureva to drill the blue machine on Sunday, hoping for a lucky break.
Ageless Murape Murape said they have a “duty to beat Caps United” and will be looking to do just that on Sunday.
Caps, on the other hand, beat Black Rhinos 2-0 last Saturday with goals from Ronald Pfumbidzai, but he won’t be there this weekend as he is also travelling to Tanzania.
At Barbourfields, Highlanders will be crippled by the absence Munyaradzi Diya, Kuda Mahachi, Peter Moyo and Milton Ncube who are also with the national team.
The absence of Diya might give an opportunity for Njabulo Nyoni to finally get his first game of the season ahead of Arial Sibanda while the likes of Cleopas Dube, Mgcini Sibanda, Joel Ngodzo and Valentine Ndaba could get starting berths.
Platinum have had a mixed start to the league this year, although they have bagged the CG Msipa Charity Shield and the Independence Trophy.
Last week, they lost 1-0 to Buffaloes in Mutare and will be looking for a quick return to winning ways before next week’s mid-week games.Advertisement
