DYNAMOS defender Partson Jaure has apologised for his violent conduct towards referee Thabani Bamala during his side’s away league match against Highlanders.
Jaure reacted angrily after he was red-carded by Bamala and almost physically assaulted the referee amid a barrage of verbal insults before he was restrained by his teammates.
The defender is already serving a two match ban and faces further sanctions when he appears before a Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee later this month.
The 22-year-old Warriors centre-back, however, expressed remorse for his actions in a letter addressed to Zifa.
“I write this letter with a great deal of remorse over my act of misconduct against Zifa referee Thabani Bamala during a league match between Highlanders and Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium on October 27, 2013 in which he was the centre referee,” read part of the letter.
“In the heat of the moment and given the pressure that I was under to try and help Dynamos to win this match I over-reacted to both the altercation I had with Njabulo Ncube of Highlanders and to the match referee Bamala.
“My actions were really uncalled for and unbecoming for a Premier League player and of a player who is a member of the Zimbabwe senior national team and I fully understand that such actions bring the name of football, Zifa and the PSL into disrepute.
“By copy of this letter I would like to offer my sincere apologies to Bamala, to the Zifa referees Committee, PSL, the league sponsors, the paying public and those who watched the game on television, to Dynamos FC, and to Highlanders FC.”
Dynamos coach Callisto Pasuwa has taken unspecified action on Jaure’s conduct in the match that Dynamos went on to win 1-0.
“It is regrettable that I let my emotions overcome the best of me. My coach Callisto Pasuwa has also heavily sanctioned me for my actions,” Jaure said.
“If I could take it back I would. I would like Bamala to find it in his heart to forgive me as I have nothing against him.
“I promise to ensure that in future I will not let emotions take the best of me no matter what stakes will be on offer in a game. I will strive to stick to the Fifa Fair Play tenets which require us to win or lose in dignity.”
Zifa has since accepted Jaure’s apology and commended the defender’s remorsefulness.Advertisement
