BULAWAYO-BASED Jazz Maestro Majahawodwa Ndlovu, popularly known in as Jeys Marabini, is out to prove one thing: that a prophet can be honoured and celebrated in his own backyard. 
While a host of musicians from the country’s cradle of arts, have moved to other cities and other countries to bolster their careers, Jeys Marabini, who fronts the Kozekulunge band, has stuck around and achieved what others have failed to do. 
The three time National Arts Merit Award winner is set to release his eighth studio album titled, Thula Sana.
The 12 track offering will be launched at Bulawayo Theatre on 26 March. 
“I worked with different people in my latest project, to give it a different sound and feel. I worked with Vusa Moyo, a renowned sound engineer based in Harare. He has worked with a lot of musicians from Southern Africa.
“I also worked with Never Mpofu (bassist), Blessing Muparutsa (Drummer) and Mthabisi Moyo, a South African based guitarist. I co-produced the album with Muparutsa,” Marabini said. 
He said the latest offering is targeting both the young and old and also hopes to take it to international stages after the launch. 
Marabini also appealed to locals to support their own musicians as this stands to boost the growth of the arts sector in the country. 
He also vowed to fight piracy by using the latest technology on his latest album that will make it difficult for music pirates to tamper with his music. 
“We are using the latest technology to protect my music from piracy. I always work hard on making sure that my music does not find its way to the streets,” said Marabini. 
The launch day will also see the musician releasing his biography, detailing his life and music journey.
He will also launch an academy as a way of giving back to people who have supported him throughout his career. Advertisement
