HIGHLANDERS Football Club has officially renewed their marriage with Mbada Diamonds Cup winning coach Kelvin Kaindu, who has agreed terms and a two-year contract.
The parties sealed the deal on Saturday morning at the club’s offices following protracted negotiations. Highlanders’ secretary Andrew Tapela and treasurer Jerry Sibanda signed on behalf of the club.
Kaindu will be assisted by Mark Mathe on the bench with Peter “Captain Oxo” Nkomo coming in as goalkeepers’ coach, while Willard Mashinkila Khumalo was retained as team manager.
Immediately after the signing ceremony, Kaindu left for Zambia where he is finishing off a Caf C Licence coaching course.
Tapela said they were never in doubt about Kaindu’s commitment to the club and were not under pressure to convince him to quickly sign the contract.
“We feel Kaindu is an astute, frank, fair and honest individual and when he committed himself to the club we did not doubt him,” said Tapela.
“We did not feel worried to rush him because there were other things he was doing, as you know he is improving his coaching qualifications in Zambia and we are aware of the passion he has for the club.”
Kaindu could only say that he was happy to renew his association with Highlanders, a team he played for before coming back to the same club as coach.Advertisement
