SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo says his team is still very much in the race for the Absa Premiership title.

United missed the chance to go third on the log when they played to a 1-1 draw with Kaizer Chiefs at Mbombela Stadium on Friday.

Matsatsantsa remain fifth, four points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with six matches left of the league season.

Despite dropping two important points at home, with the league race getting fierce, Tembo believes his team is still in with a great chance of pipping their rivals at the post.

“You know the way we are at the moment we can’t run away from it. What is important for us as well is to focus and concentrate and make sure we get the points that keep us closer and closer,” said Tembo.

“The point we got against Kaizer Chiefs we will take. It keeps us not far away from the leaders. We can’t run away from it. We are in the race and we need to keep fighting,” he added.

SuperSport are scheduled to visit Sundowns in their next league match at Loftus Stadium on April 7. However, the game is set to be postponed due to Sundowns’ involvement in the CAF Champions League.
