KAIZER Chiefs will loan out Zimbabwe international Ovidy Karuru for the 2015/2016 Absa Premiership in a bid to give him game time.
Karuru arrived from Belgium after having spent some years in France at the start of last season, but failed to start even a single match despite signing a three year contract.
Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung said Karuru, Simphiwe Mtsweni, Chris Matombo, Levy Mokgothu and Zitha Macheke will have to find new teams during a press conference in Johannesburg on Tuesday.
Motaung also announced that coach Stuart Baxter would not stay on as coach while Mandla Masango, Footballer of the Season Tefu Mashamaite, Katlego Mphela, Siyabonga Nkosi, Josta Dladla, Itumeleng Khune and Phakamani Mngadi have also been released.
This means only Willard Katsande and Mathew Rusike, whose contract expires on June 30 but will be renewed, will remain at Naturena next season.
Baxter said: “I don’t know what I’m doing. I’m looking for a job, yes I did visit Turkey, but for now I will go back to Sweden and have a rest,” Baxter said of his plans after insisting he leaves Chiefs with fond memories and on good terms.
He added: “I won’t have a problem working in South Africa in the near future.”
Baxter-a two-time and the current PSL Coach of the Season-delivered two League titles, the Nedbank Cup and the MTN8 trophy in his time with the Soweto giants.
