FORMER Zimbabwe goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini could leave South African Absa Premiership strugglers when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Kapini, who played for Highlanders and left in 2007 to join Platinum Stars in South Africa before leaving for AmaZulu in 2011, is a free agent on June 30 2015, making him eligible to sign a pre-contract in January.
His agent says they have alerted AmaZulu, who are bottom of the log with no win, but nothing is moving at the moment.
“Kapini is an experienced international goalkeeper who can play as a local. With him being free from the 30th of June, and being able to sign a pre-contract in January, we will have a few clubs watching the space very closely,” Hartslief told Soccer Laduma.
“I have made AmaZulu aware of this, but to date we have not finalised a new deal.”
A lot of Zimbabweans have struggled in the Absa premiership in recent years with the Mamelodi Sundowns pair of Method Mwanjali and Nyasha Mushekwi being frozen out this season.
Mwanjali spent last season at Mpumalanga Black Aces while Mushekwi was in Belgium, but both failed to extend their stays.
Gilbert Mapemba was also frozen out at Moroka Swallows while Denver Mukamba switched to Pretoria University after failing to get game time at Bidvest Wits. Rodreck Mutuma was off-loaded by Bloemfontein Celtic and rejoined Dynamos.
Oscar Machapa, Simba Sithole and Tafadzwa Rusike also returned from Swallows, SuperSport and Ajax Cape Town and all joined Dynamos.Advertisement
