SOUTH African premiership side Kaizer Chiefs were expected to Wednesday confirm the signing of Zimbabwe international, Ovidy Karuru.
The 25-year-old joins Amakhosi as a free agent after deciding not to renew his contract with Belgian side, OH Leuven.
Karuru started in last Sunday’s 4-2 friendly match win over Chippa United in Port Elizabeth and is expected to play in the Carling Black Label Cup against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.
According to reports, Karuru has signed a three-year contract with the Soweto side.
“He has been training with us, and yes, he has signed a three-year deal. He will be unveiled this week,” the newspaper reported.
Karuru first left Zimbabwe’s Gunners FC in 2009 to seek greener pastures with French side Boulogne.
He jumped ship when Boulogne got relegated and joined Leuven in 2012.
He left Leuven after a fall-out with coach Ronny van Geneugden, having endured a difficult spell on the side-lines.
He played under subsequent coaches Herman Vermeulen and Ivan Leko but decided against renewing his contract when it ended last season.
Elsewhere, Mamelodi Sundowns forward Khama Billiat is likely to miss the first two months of the season at least as he continued to battle back from a metatarsal injury.

The Zimbabwe international limped out of Sundowns’ Nedbank Cup defeat to Orlando Pirates in April and remains sidelines with his foot in a cast.
He is hobbling about on crutches still but hopes to have the cast removed in the next 10 days to step up his rehabilitation.
But it remains a long road back for the 23-year-old, who has missed pre-season will battle to be fully match fit before the start of October.
Billiat arrived at Sundowns from Ajax Cape Town at the start of last season but missed most of the second half of the campaign with one injury or another.
In the end he scored six goals in 19 starts for the club in all competitions as The Brazilians claimed their first league title since the 2006/07 season.Advertisement
