DESPITE not winning anything with Kaizer Chiefs this past season, midfielder Willard Katsande was the main man at the club’s end of the year awards and that gave the midfielder enough courage to dream that he could play in Europe.
The player, who is currently back home in Zimbabwe, said that he is not rushing anything at the moment but if that chance comes he will grab it with both hands.
He said he feels that he has been working hard while playing for Chiefs and if given the chance to play in Europe he will give it a go.
“I dream of Europe, but I will not force it because I still have a good home here at Kaizer Chiefs and I hope I will continue delivering for this great club, which has been good to me since I arrived here three seasons ago,” he said.
“We will have many games to compete in, including a return to the African Champions League, where we want to go as far as possible this time round.”
“We know when the season starts, there will be tough competition, but I’m optimistic that I will keep my position and help Chiefs win back some silverware.
“It is always good to play for a big team like Chiefs and win things with them like we did the other season. We will come back strong this season and make sure that we win trophies for the team, the supporters and ourselves as well.”
The midfielder also expressed his disappointment at Zimbabwe’s exit from the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations Qualification campaign at the weekend.
The Warriors drew 2-2 at home to Tanzania and bowed out after losing the away tie 0-1 but Katsande said they should take the positives from the two games and start preparing for the 2017 campaign.
“We created a lot of chances but it’s just that luck was not our side. We could not convert the chances but we dominated for the greater part of the match,” said Katsande.
“I still feel that I have got a lot to offer for this national team. Age is still on my side and I am looking forward to the next campaign and the World Cup as well.
“When one chooses to be a professional football player, then one has to expect the pressure always.
“However, I was not under much pressure because I was with the 10 players to make up the team. But I was hungry to help the nation to progress to the next stage but it was unfortunate.”Advertisement
