ZIMBABWE international Willard Katsande who anchors the Kaizer Chiefs midfield believes his game has developed by trying to emulate midfield generals Yaya Toure and Xabi Alonso.
Katsande who has been in imperious form this season and has assumed the duties of penalty taker, picked up his second successive man-of-the-match award in Kaizer Chiefs’ 2-0 victory at Golden Arrows on Tuesday night.
The Zimbabwean also shone in the Soweto Derby stalemate with Orlando Pirates last weekend.
And the Warriors captain told the South African media he watches European football during his spare time and that he was inspired by Yaya Toure and Xabi Alonso.
Katsande said: “During my spare time I always enjoy watching European football.
“There are great players playing in my position – Xabi Alonso, Yaya Toure. So I copy and try and implement it in my game.
“I think it is paying off this time.”
Katsande, though, also gave credit to his teammates for his impressive form of late.
“Like I said in the previous game, it all goes with the experience, hard work and determination. Credit must go to the entire team; we work so hard.”
