COMEDIAN and social media activist Curtis Smith, better known as Zvirikufaya naKedha, lost his mother at his wedding recently.
Tragedy struck on what was supposed to be a special day for the Smith family as Curtis wed his love Afton.
“Curtis’ family has suffered a tragedy. His mum suddenly passed away during Curtis and Afton’s wedding on the 27th of December,” read a statement from family and friends.
Curtis started the now very popular Zvirikufaya neKedha page and channel on YouTube where he used comedy to help Zimbabweans through their challenges.
He also used his social media activism to support various causes and deserving individuals in the country.
“Curtis’ vision when he created Zvirikufaya naKedha page was to bring together Zimbabweans from all over the world,” read a statement from family and friends.
“He has managed to achieve this through comedy and charity fundraising for those in need amongst other things.
“In one way or another we have all benefited from his vision to unify Zimbabwe.”
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to enable well-wishers to support the family during this difficult family.
“The purpose of this go fund is to appeal for any help or contributions to help towards funeral costs.
“Let’s all unite for this cause as a community and support our brother and his family in their time of need.
“Curtis and Afton appreciate any assistance you can give. No amount is too small. God bless you.”
The campaign had raised just over £2,700 as of Monday evening.
