Khumalo burial at Lady Stanley

HIGHLANDERS coach Bongani Mafu survived the axe after a four-hour grilling on Monday following a second consecutive loss.
Bosso lost 2-1 to FC Platinum last Thursday before going down 1-0 to Whawha and the coach had to leave Ascot under police guard on Sunday as angry fans bayed for his head.
Bosso chief executive Ndumiso Gumede said the Mafu had been ordered to ‘pull up his socks and get his tactics right’ in the next match against Chicken Inn.
While Gumede said little, it is understood Mafu has two matches to save his job.
Bosso lie eighth with 25 points after their seventh defeat of the season – the worst tally by any Highlanders coach after 20 matches in almost a decade.
It is understood his assistant Mandla ‘Lulu’ Mpofu and welfare manager Netsai ‘Super’ Moyo, a qualified coach, could be handed the reigns in the last eight matches of the season.
Khumalo burial at Lady Stanley
THE late Highlanders and Warriors legend Willard Khumalo will be laid to rest at the iconic Lady Stanley Cemetery on Thursday.
Family spokesman Ernest ‘Maphepha’ Sibanda said a request had been sent to the Bulawayo City Council for Khumalo to be afforded that status where the city’s foremost citizens are buried.
If that goes through, Khumalo will lie alongside his former Highlanders and Warriors teammates Mercedes ‘Rambo’ Sibanda, Adam ‘Adamski’ Ndlovu and Benjamin Nkonjera.
Khumalo passed on in the early hours of Sunday morning at the United Bulawayo Hospitals aged 49 after a long battle with diabetes.
