A TEENAGE domestic worker has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for bedding his boss’s daughter.
Abraham Kiyari (17) of Plot 57, Tendera farm, Chinhoyi appeared before regional magistrate Ignatius Mugova facing three counts of rape as defined in Section 65 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
The presiding magistrate, however, conditionally set aside five years of the jail term. Kiyari will effectively spend seven years in jail.
The state case, led by Nyasha Sibesha was that on 11 January this year, Kiyari proposed love to the girl and she accepted.
On the same date, but later at night, the accused person who was sleeping in a bedroom hut at the compound proceeded to a hut where the girl was sleeping.
After gaining entry through an unlocked door, Kiyari awakened the complainant before the two had sex.
The following night, Kiyari repeated his escapade and had sexual intercourse with the minor.
On the third night, after being intimate with the girl Kiyari left the bedroom hut.
As he left, the dogs started barking and awakened the girl’s mother who was in her bedroom.
She went out to investigate and realised the door to accused’s bedroom was open but he was not present.
The door to the complainant’s bedroom was also open, but she was in bed.
Upon being quizzed, the girl confessed to sleeping with the farm helper. The matter was reported to the police leading to Kiyari’s arrest.
